Seniors Steve Bassett and Andrew LaLonde, neither of whom have lost a match this season, won championships, while John Pomeranke was third, Tyler Chapman was fourth, and Doug Pauly was sixth.
Bassett, now 15-0 this year, went 3-0 on the day to claim the championship at 103 pounds. The senior recorded two pins, defeating Shawn Traynor of Division 3 Big Rapids, 12-4, in the final.
LaLonde, now 17-0, won all four of his matches, one by pin, to claim the 189-pound weight division. The senior defeated Matt Aubrey of Division 1 Detroit Catholic Central, 4-3, in the championship match.
According to the coaches polls released December 20 on MLive.com, Bassett is ranked second at 103 pounds behind state champ Kyle Waldo of Rockford. Wrestlers from all four divisions are included in the polls.
