Coaches:
This is the third year for our tourney and each year we get bigger and better. We’ve tried different ways to maximize opportunities for teams and I think we’ve come up with an awesome way for you and your teams to get a lot of wrestling in a very short time and all before the Christmas break and for very little money.
We will be looking to host 32 teams over two days using 8 mats. We will have 4 mats at Crestview High School and 4 mats at Davidson Middle School (right behind Crestview High). Both schools will have plenty of seating and fully active concession stands and hospitality rooms for coaches and officials.
The tourney will start with 4 groups of eight teams wrestling round robins. Each team will get 7 matches in your round robin. At the completion of all of the round robins, we will then take the number 1 team from each group and seed a mini dual tourney (seeding will be based on won/loss record in the round robin or most combined match points in your round robin). Each team will wrestle in a semi-final with winners wrestling for 1st place and losers wrestling for 3rd. We’ll do the same for the number 2 teams (these teams will wrestle for places 5 through 8), the number 3 teams (these teams will wrestle for places 9 through 12), and so on. This format will guarantee each team 9 matches over the two-day period. With 144 expected duals during the course of the tourney we should be out of the gym and heading home before 8:00 pm on Saturday.
If we can work out the details, these are the things that will separate this tourney from others:
-The hospitality room is TOP NOTCH. Coaches, this alone will make you want to come back!
-We hope to have live video feed of featured team and individual match-ups going from one school to the other.
-We hope to have announcements of results and upcoming match-ups made to both schools.
-Experienced (and hopefully adult) scorekeepers at each mat.
-We hope to have discounts lined up at area hotels/motels and restaurants.
(Crestview has several buffet, fast food, and nice sit down restaurants ranging
from Chinese, Seafood, Italian, Steak, or to simple American cuisine)
-We hope to have a website up and running soon (our teams website is
www.eteamz.com/crestviewwrestling and we will link to it when it is up and
running)
We will have custom medals for wrestlers (gold for undefeated, silver for one loss, and bronze for two losses) and custom trophies for the top 4 teams. We will also have awards for Most Pins Least Amount of Time, Fastest Fall, Most Valuable Wrestler Lower Weights, and Most Valuable Wrestler Upper Weights.
Last year our tourney saw six of the 15 teams competing carry a state ranking in to our gym. We also had a field rich with talent as several top rated wrestlers competed. We are a growing program and we are trying to create an event that attracts teams from all over the country. We’re asking you to share in this development. As of the mailing of this letter, we have interest from all over the state of Florida. Teams from Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, and Minnesota have also expressed much interest.
Here’s the deal, I need to know ASAP if you are interested. If you are, please send back the contract signed and this will guarantee your team a spot. Money will need to be by November 1, 2004, unless you’d like to send it now. All checks are to be made out to Crestview Wrestling. You can use the self addressed and stamped envelope that is included in the packet. Again, Coaches, I need to know very soon so I can begin making all the arrangements and lining up all the EXTRAS listed above.
If you need more information, please e-mail me: cjnxfowler@seii.net
Thanks for your consideration and see you in the gym!
