everyone,
we need your help.
bob madigan (norway high school) and myself spoke to mshaa director jack roberts last Tuesday afternoon.
we explained that we had an overwhelming amount of u.p. schools that had recommended to particpate downstate in the future. mr roberts acknowledged that he did have an overwhelming majority in his hands.
we then asked what our options were as far as possibly putting this on the fast track yet this year to get us downstate this coming season.
he explained that the statewide mshaa executive would be the only body which could make that decision and that they were meeting aug. 14th. (3 weeks). he said that if he received some letters from the states school's requesting that the mshaa address this issue at their aug 14th meeting rather than wait until 07-08 that he felt that they would/could address the issue.
so what we need is letters from your respective school's administraton requesting that the mshaa executive board please consider let the u.p. wrestling individuals into the downstate individual state title districts in 2006-07 year and to not have a 2007 u.p. state finals.
please cut and paste the attached letter below and have your super's sign and send in before aug 10th.

Subject: Upper Peninsula Wrestling Changes
Mr. Roberts,
As an Lower Peninsula school which sponsors a wrestling program our school is in favor of the Upper Peninsula being admitted into the downstate Individual State Championships we would like to request that the statewide executive MHSAA committee consider at their Aug. 14th 2006 meeting to recommend that all Upper Peninsula wrestling schools being merged into the downstate Individual State Championships in the 2006-07 season. Obviously this would also mean an end to the Upper Peninsula Individual State Championships as we know it
Your timely attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.
